Embassy Information Assistant Kalifa Gadiaga Presents E-journal to President of the Malian Maison de la Presse, Makan Kone.
World Press Freedom Day 2009
On May 3, 2009, the U.S. Embassy distributed 100 copies of the French version of the IIP E-journal “Media Making Change” to government officials and media professionals. The distribution occurred at a program organized by the Malian Maison de la Presse in observance of World Press Freedom Day 2009. The E-journal which focuses on the ways in which new media technologies give average citizens access to vast amounts of information and broad networks of people and shows how this new empowerment is influencing nations in various parts of the world. This modest donation was a sign of U.S. government support for free and responsible media around the world, but particularly in Mali.
