Warden Messages 2011
Possible Protests 12 March in Djelibougou Area of Bamako
March 11, 2011
The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is issuing this Warden Message to inform U.S. Citizens that the Embassy has received information that there is a demonstration organized by the African Solidarity for Democracy and Independence party to show opposition to NATO military intervention in Libya scheduled for Saturday, March 12, beginning around 3:30 p.m. The demonstration is planned for the Djelibougou area of Bamako (the neighborhood east of the Hippodrome).
The Malian Police have been notified and it is understood that this activity may not be authorized. Therefore, the police may move to disperse the protesters. The Embassy has no reason to believe that this demonstration will be violent. However, the Embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid the area in the afternoon.
