U.S. Embassy Assists in Establishing a Joint Health Research Agenda for Mali
On March 12, 2009, the U.S. Embassy took part in a Symposium on Research on HIV/AIDS in Mali. The main objective of this workshop was to establish a joint research agenda between the Malian Ministry of Health and the Center for Research and training on HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis (SEREFO), a NIAID/NIH founded research program in Mali. This was an opportunity for American NIH researchers and their Malian counterparts to work with Malian officials from Decision makers the Ministry of Health to identify priority areas regarding the field of research on HIV and Tuberculosis in Mali. Ambassador Milovanovic opened the workshop with brief remarks congratulating the initiative as a means for more effective partnership in this important field.
