Possible Protests Monday 28 March in Kita (Kayes region)

27 March 2011

The U.S. Embassy in Bamako is issuing this warden message to inform U.S. citizens that it has received information that a demonstration will be held in Kita (Kayes Region) to protest violence against Malians living in Libya.  According to the information the Embassy has received, the protest will begin at "Kayira Radio" at 0830, and then proceed to the Prefet's office.  It will finish, at the latest, around 1430.

The Embassy has no reason to believe that this demonstration will be violent.  However, the Embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid these areas during this time period.
