Transit Visas
Applicants wishing to travel through the U.S. en route to another country must have a transit visa if they are not in posession of another class of valid U.S. visa, e.g., B1/B2, H1B, O, or P.
Applicants applying for a transit visa must:
- Complete and print out form DS-156
- Complete form DS-157 (PDF) for males between 16 and 45
- Pay an application fee of $140 at any Banque Internationale pour le Mali (BIM)
- Have a passport with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States
- Have two photos that meet these specifications
- Have a valid visa or passport for your final destination

On the day of the interview, please bring your completed forms, photos, bank receipt, and passport with you. If
you have not filled out all the forms completely, or do not have all
the necessary documents, you may be asked to return another day for your
interview.
Please also bring supporting documentation, such
as bank statements, work letters, invitation letters, marriage
certificates, and birth certificates for children. Do not have
supporting documentation faxed, e-mailed, or sent to the Embassy; it
will be thrown away. Bring all supporting documentation with you for
the interview.
Arrive at the Consular Section of the Embassy
30 minutes bfore your interview time. Please plan on spending up to
three to five hours at the Embassy.
