NIH-HIV Research program in Mali Organizes One Day Symposium on HIV and Tuberculosis

Participants of the NIH-HIV Research Program Symposium Model Pagnes in honor of Malian-American Friendship
On December 27, 2008, the Center for Research and Training on HIV and Tuberculosis, the National Institutes of Health HIV Research program in Mali, and ARCAD/SIDA, a Malian NGO working on HIV counseling and treatment, jointly organized a one day symposium to bring together NGOs and institutions working on HIV in Mali. The main objectives of this workshop were to share available data related to HIV and Tuberculosis research in Mali and to find ways to harmonize research efforts. The symposium was chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Representatives from the Ministry of Health and National High Council for fight against HIV (HCLNS) were also present, and participants included representatives of 12 different NGOs and institutions working on HIV in Mali. Embassy Public Affairs provided pagnes and ARS books to the attendees of the workshop, which was covered by Malian National television.
