Celebration of Women’s Month

In celebration of Women’s Month, PAS Bamako collaborated with Mariam Diallo, a President's Young African Leaders Forum alumni, head of the Women Leadership and Development Association (AFLED) to screen "The Secret Pain," a film about one women's view of excision, for an invited audience of her contacts. A panel discussion followed.

The audience at the Aoua Keita center, included students, activists and NGO members.  M. Aliou Aya (a deputy in the Malian National Assembly) was an active member of the panel.  Audience members suggested taking similar programs to schools and creating more opportunities to speak about feminine genital mutilation (FGM), so that information about its destructive consequences in women's lives can be known.
