End of the "La Lecture, Source de Lumière" Art Contest

To mark the end of the “La lecture, Source de Lumière” art contest, which involved four Bamako schools, Ambassador Milovanovic visited École de Progrès to award prizes.  Student contestants first received art instruction then were challenged to express the importance of reading in their designs. All participants received book bags and school materials, while each school’s top three winners  received prizes.  The 1st prize pictures from the four competing schools were featured on a colorful poster calendar, produced in conjunction with the PHARE reading program of USAID.  The Ambassador unveiled the calendar at the prize ceremony, explaining that the calendar would be distributed to schools throughout Mali and used to promote reading.  She encouraged the students to use their talents, and to continue to read for academic success.
