Humphrey Association of Mali Donation to Internally Displaced Populations
On July 14, 2012 the Hubert H. Humphrey Association of Mali donated 22 tons of rice, 6 tons of flour and 35 boxes of aqua tabs for water purification to internally displaced populations from northern Mali currently in the region of Mopti.
Following the occupation of the three regions in the north of Mali by the separatist group MNLA and by extremist groups associated with Al Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb and other drug traffickers, the Hubert H. Humphrey Alumni Association of Mali brought its assistance to the displaced populations in the regions of Mopti. The assistance was made possible by a grant from the US Embassy and contributions by the members of the association. During the donation ceremony, the governor and the Mayor of Mopti showed their gratitude to the members of the association and thanked the US Embassy and the American people for their generosity towards the displaced populations.
